The assessment of thermal comfort is relevant for a number of industrial areas such as the automotive industry, the aircraft industry, the railway/coach industry and the HVAC/building sector. In the presentation, the recent developments of a parametric multi-segment manikin model will be shown which serves as the interface between the human thermoregulation model of Fiala (D. Fiala et al., J Appl Physiol 87:1957-1972, 1999) and other computational codes for studying transient and local effects of thermal sensation and comfort perception. The talk will also address the various scales and levels in simulation and will provide an overview over the related calculation methods in building performance simulation and their resolution in space and time.
